CAMBRIDGE TOWER DIRECTORY

Cambridge, MA

The project is a redesign of the street level signage and wayfinding for the Cambridge Tower high-rise.

The exterior installation includes a new directory to identify commercial spaces in the building, new address numbers for better visibility from the street, and site improvements to soften the building’s street frontage.

The simple color palette of dark bronze, combined with a strong golden yellow accent, works with the existing dark brick and concrete building. The golden yellow provides a flash of bold color, helping direct both pedestrian and vehicular views to the property.

A new raised-brick apron - on which sit a playful array of multiple-sized planters in the same warm color palette - softens the harsh raw concrete porte cochère, creating a more welcoming streetfront presence for the building and the neighborhood.

The “872” street address - water-jet cut from a single metal plate - floats in front of a golden colored panel and is softly backlit. The building directory proper is a backlit window box designed to allow for easy updates.
